Steve Norman Message: Tour Dates Rescheduling and Cancellations
Tue, October 11, 2022
It is with heavy heart that I have to inform you of the cancellation or rescheduling of some of the tour dates.
There are various reasons for arriving at this decision. The necessary re-scheduling of the original dates due to a potential lockdown in February meant that the preferred dates were not available as the venues were already snapped up by artists with the same idea and so our dates had to be staggered. This escalated the production costs significantly.
I accepted taking that hit and covering those costs but what has impacted most is the fact that people are spending less on these kind of ‘luxuries’ due to the current cost of living crisis and general financial uncertainty. This is across the board.
Quite simply, less people are buying tickets and the majority of performing artists are experiencing a substantial drop in audience attendance as a result.
Nobody likes cancelling shows but it is happening more and more in these trying times which is deeply worrying for the live music industry at grass roots level. Performing live is normally the main source of income for a band or artist (and crew, of course) especially as recorded music provides very little income for them nowadays.
Regardless of this, I am utterly devastated and can only apologise from the bottom of my heart to those of you who have already bought tickets. You will be refunded for the cancelled shows, of course.
Purchased tickets for the postponed shows will remain valid if you still wish to attend the gigs in February 2023.
I’m gonna stay positive and I am so very much looking forward to the remaining four shows (Birmingham, Southend, Brighton and London) and having some fun with you guys. Even more so now!
Take care, Steve X
