Gary: Songs in the Key of London Update
Gary Kemp is proud to announce that he has been asked by Squeeze songwriter Chris Difford to perform at his Greenwhich Summer Sessions concert, Songs in the Key of London.
The show is on Sunday 31st July in the grounds of the Royal Naval College in Greenwhich and is a celebration of songs about the capital.
Gary will be performing on the bill which includes Eddi Reader, Ali Campbell, Pee Wee Ellis abd Chris Wood and of course Difford himself. Gary has chosen to perform tow of his favourite London-focused songs; Bowie’s London Boys and Spandau’s own Chant No. 1. It’s 30 years this week since the song charted and it is important to the band in that it defined their own thoughts on the London music scene at the time. A blend of funkand electro, soul boy and arthouse, Spandau Ballet and the horns of Beggar and Co. The song represents Soho as it was 30 years ago and still sits a s a huge fan favourite.
